It's probably not new to everyone, but I just found an excellent PHP book posted online as a WIKI: Practical PHP Programming It's a great reference book on PHP, covers PHP5 and is formatted well. It's supported by a few Google Ads.
PHP 4 end of life announcement
PHP.net has announced that they will not release any updates to PHP 4 after 12/31/2007. They will stop issuing critical security patches after 8/8/2008. This will finally force hosting companies into supporting PHP5. It only took 3 years and the upcoming release of PHP 6 to do it!
